Welcome to ‘a Path Through the Valley’, where I write out some of my thoughts on a variety of topics, including UK politics, poverty, disability and chronic illness. Occasionally, I ‘translate’ some of the complex sciencey stuff about ME and CFS into something actually readable by sufferers – if you have a request, drop me a line.
I suffered from ME since I was 15, which became severe during my last year in university. I spent over a year mostly in bed, where I learned the arts of patience and crochet. It opened my eyes to a lot of the injustice in our society, right at the time where it was really starting to cascade. It also gave me a lot of time to think. As the best Christmas present ever, I miraculously got better (you can read about that here: https://apaththroughthevalley.wordpress.com/2012/12/21/the-end-of-a-world/).
The blog isn’t updated much any more because the basis of most of my posts was my experience day-to-day with the personal and political frustrations of living with a severe chronic illness. With that oh-so-thankfully gone I find myself with less to say on the subject that wouldn’t be mere repetition, and so I shall leave this important work to others better qualified than myself.
